There is a very specific kind of comfort that comes with a Priyadarshan comedy and Bhooth Bangla has it in abundance. The pacing, the slapstick, the way chaos builds on chaos until the whole scene is gloriously out of control, it is all there. The first act does a great job of setting up each character and their quirks so that when things start going wrong, every reaction lands perfectly. The story itself is simple but it is told with a lot of heart and a sharp eye for comic situations. This is the kind of film where you can tell the director genuinely enjoyed making it, and that energy comes through on screen. Fans of Hera Pheri and Hungama will feel right at home here.
