The fun factor in Falimy consistently remains on the higher side, making this a light and enjoyable watch. There isn’t much of a plot to speak of; instead, a series of situations lead to a dysfunctional family deciding to take a trip to Varanasi as per the wishes of their elderly patriarch. The five members of the household – (played by) Basil Joseph, Sandeep Pradeep, Jagadish, Manju Pillai, and Meenaraj Palluruthy – are all wonderful performers, and the writing gives them roles they totally shine in.The way the first half plays out made me think this had all the makings of a sitcom, with pertinent underlying themes. The friendship shared between the two (neighboring) grandpas is not only heartwarming but also pivotal in the plot’s progression. I like how the writing naturally came across as humourous as opposed to forcefully putting these characters in such situations (except for one where the family randomly decides to hitchhike in a shady guy’s van).
